Our steels

HezHen damask steel is made by fusing 67 layers of steel to obtain an exceptional blade.

There is no perfect steel for blade steels. The fundamental qualitative characteristics on which a blade steel is assessed are essentially three, namely hardness, corrosion resistance and reliability. Beyond a certain threshold, improving the performance of a steel in one of these characteristics inevitably leads to the deterioration of the others.

The damascus steel technique allows the use of different steels according to the parts of the blade, combining the advantages of different types of steel in a single superperforming product, compared to a product made with a single type of steel.

In addition, the fusion of several layers of steel provides new structural properties for the blade. As for the legendary Wootz and Bintie steels, steel made in this way is more flexible, and at the same time much harder than a monobloc steel

In addition, the fusion of several layers of steel provides new structural properties for the blade. As for the legendary Wootz and Bintie steels, steel made in this way is more flexible, and at the same time much harder than a monobloc steel. The heart of the blade, and therefore also the edge of the blade itself, is made using our 10Cr15CoMoV steel, an extraordinary product in terms of hardness (thread hold) and sharpness, with very high Carbon content (10) (for hardness and sharpness) and Chromium (15) (for resistance to oxidation), with Cobalt, Molybdenum and Vanadium. The 66 layers that wrap around the heart of the blade are made of a softer, more flexible and much more corrosion-resistant steel, 316L steel, an austenitic chrome-nickel steel,
